Six months of preparation, challenge and embedding. Here is how it works.

Leadership in Management is designed to help leaders see themselves clearly, understand why they lead the way they do, and change their behaviour in ways that make a real difference to their teams and their business.

Leadership in Management is a six-month programme.

Here is what happens at every stage.

Prepare

Before the residential

Most leadership programmes start on day one. Leadership in Management starts before you arrive.

A video briefing sets out what to expect, with an optional pre-call if you have questions. A tri-coaching session then brings together the leader, their line manager or sponsor and a Leadership Trust coach - first as a group, then one-to-one with the leader alone. Personal learning objectives are agreed and the sponsor commits to how they will support their leader back at work.

The Actionable app is introduced for personal reflection, journalling and goal-setting. It keeps development supported between every session throughout the six months.

Residential

One week to change how you lead.

Five and a half days at Chelsea Parkfields, Leadership Trust's private residential estate in Herefordshire. Away from the office, the job title and the habits that go with both.

Outdoor challenges, real-life project scenarios and problem-solving under pressure surface how leaders actually behave - not how they think they behave. The cohort divides into small peer groups from different sectors and organisations. They observe each other under pressure and - supported by expert facilitation - give each other honest feedback. They have no prior relationship and no reason to soften what they see. That is what makes it land differently from a coach, a trainer or a 360 tool.

Behavioural psychology and theory introduced at the moment they are most useful - when a leader can see exactly why it matters.

Maximum 1:8 participant-to-facilitator ratio throughout.

For Life

Where the change becomes permanent.

Every LM graduate joins the Leadership Trust alumni community - peer connection, networking, ongoing workshops and continued learning. The development continues for as long as the leader wants it to.

The Actionable app

Throughout the six months, the Actionable app keeps development supported between every session. Leaders use it for personal reflection, journalling and goal-setting - and to stay connected with their coach, mentor or accountability buddy. The learning doesn't stop between sessions.

“Leadership in Management has made me a more open and authentic leader. I feel more able to engage with my team in meaningful, productive ways, adapting my style to meet challenges. Most importantly, my confidence has grown - I understand my unique assets and know when to dial them up or down.”

Sarah Cross | Sustainability Programme Manager

No other open programme in the UK does this.

Business schools teach theory. Outdoor providers build resilience. Coaches develop self-awareness.

Leadership in Management integrates all of it - immersive residential, outdoor challenge, behavioural psychology, cross-sector peer feedback and six months of preparation and embedding - in one programme.

The proof is in what changes back at work.

Over 50 years. More than 80,000 leaders. Our work has contributed to results including:

£100,000+

Cost savings within three months. Hart Security - their Group Finance Manager applied LM insight to identify efficiencies, described by the CEO as one of their best leadership investments.

£26m

Revenue growth in four months. Goodpack - leaders applied LM learning to retain key accounts, recover costs 50% faster and reduce CEO escalations.

£12m to £18m

Turnover growth alongside team expansion. WashCo - LM helped reset leadership capability so the business could scale confidently as demand increased.

86%

Staff engagement, with staff turnover falling to below 7%. Melton Foods - managers built the trust and consistency that made people choose to stay.

“LM set aside my title and position, pushed me to see how I was experienced as a leader, and shifted my perspective — and it stuck."
